The Tày are skillful puppeteers. The figurines take two to three days to carve, paint and clothe, and their movements are animated using bamboo sticks that are attached to the torso and limbs. In addition to people animating the puppets, there are performers who provide them with voices and play musical instruments including drums, blow flutes and the Tinh instrument.
