Living in a Mindful Universe: Interview with Dr. Eben Alexander & Ms. Karen Newell, Part 1 of 4

Today, we are honored to present Part 1 of our 4-Part program on the insightful book, “Living in a Mindful Universe: A Neurosurgeon's Journey into the Heart of Consciousness,” written by Dr. Eben Alexander, an accomplished neurosurgeon, and Ms. Karen Newell, cofounder of Sacred Acoustics.

Dr. Eben Alexander grew up in a neurosurgical family with a history of being distinguished scholars. He was an academic neurosurgeon for over 25 years, including 15 years teaching neurosurgery at the distinguished Harvard Medical School in Boston.

He spent a week in a coma on a ventilator, with his prospects for survival diminishing rapidly. On the seventh day, to the surprise of everyone, he started to awaken. He had lost all memories of his life, yet he awoke with new memories of a fantastic odyssey deep into another realm – a soul-stirring realm that felt truer and more profound than this earthly existence! “It changed everything. Now, of course, initially, I was just rocked to the core.”

“And therefore, I started on a journey 10 years ago after I awoke from this coma, of trying to explain my experience.” It was during his quest to find a deeper understanding of the nature of consciousness, and indeed, of reality, that Dr. Alexander met Ms. Karen Newell. Karen Newell had dedicated her life to seeking the wisdom that Dr. Alexander had only just begun to discover. After years of studying esoteric teachings as well as practicing various techniques, she, like Dr. Alexander, also discovered the powerful role that sound plays in attaining inner realizations.
