In today’s news, Ireland funds non-governmental organizations for global development efforts. US meteorologists report unusually warm December, Nigerian state begins education reform to give children safer future, low-cost earthquake-resistant bamboo homes built in Myanmar, Colombian scientists receive award for using agricultural waste to create organic battery, US vegan restaurant continues serving community amid closures, and Indian wildlife hospital rescues abandoned leopard cubs near urban area.

Fresh organic produce is at the center of all our vegan meals. I have a food freshness tip for you. Properly utilizing your fridge’s crisper drawer is one of the main ways to keep your produce fresh longer. Many refrigerators have a humidity control slider. A high–humidity (closed vent) setting traps moisture and is ideal for leafy greens and vegetables that easily wilt like herbs, lettuce, and cucumbers. A low–humidity (open vent) setting allows air to flow and is optimal for ethylene-producing fruits such as pears, apples, and melons. Without the proper humidity setting, these fruits can ripen and spoil quicker. Keep ethylene producers apart from sensitive vegetables to avoid premature decay and don’t overfill the drawers since this can negatively affect airflow and impact humidity. Steer clear of washing your produce prior to storing as moisture can lead to mold. Finally, routinely clean the drawers to keep bacteria and odors away.

The key to looking young is a good laugh! Join us for our joke of the day entitled,“ Frequent Traveler.”

Anyone traveling on business for the tech company Blue Screen Solutions must submit an expense report. While explaining the form, the company finance clerk gave careful instructions to an employee who recently came back from a trip.

“On this line, enter the name printed on the front of the credit card.”

“Do you want the real name, or the one I tell hotel clerks when I’m trying to sound important?”

?!

And now we have a heartline in Mongolian, with multiple-language subtitles, from Eyeldeg in Mongolia
