Here is a tip on how to cut onions without shedding a tear. Be sure you’re using a sharp knife because a dull knife will crush the onion instead of slicing it cleanly. This causes the onion to release more of the tear-causing enzyme that irritates the eyes. Another method is to freeze the onion for approximately 10 or 15 minutes prior to cutting it. The cold immobilizes the tear-causing enzymes when you cut it. Be sure to quickly slice the onion after you remove it from the freezer since it will warm up, causing the enzyme to become more active. Now you’ll be able to slice and dice without crying.

“Hi, can you help me? The A, E, and I keys on my keyboard always stick!”

“It seems your computer is suffering from what we in the biz call ‘IVS,’ more commonly known as Irritable Vowel Syndrome. Use a compressed air duster twice and call me in the morning.”
