Over 100 global celebrities, politicians, and business leaders encourage going vegan for Veganuary.
An open letter urging worldwide citizens to try being plant-based during January 2021 has received the support of more than 100 renowned individuals. Signatories include actors Alan Cumming and Alicia Silverstone, musician Sir Paul McCartney, a Shining World Compassionate Artist Award laureate, comedian Ricky Gervais, United Kingdom parliament members, doctors, athletes, business CEOs and more.
Published by UK-based nonprofit Veganuary, the letter emphasizes the urgent need to switch to a plant-based diet to avert global pandemics and halt climate change – both of which are cited in the letter as “heavily linked to our consumption of animal products.” Over 500,000 people have already signed up for Veganuary this year.
